Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Ministry is a group of volunteers that use intercessory prayer, meaning they pray for others including our ministries, pastors, members in need, those on mission trips, people in need around the world and those who have specifically asked for prayer. It includes a 24-hour Prayer Line and a Prayer Room just inside the entrance to the church offices. Call the Prayer Line at 770-671-8239 or contact us below.

Stephen Ministry

Christ Caring for People through People, that's the motto of Stephen Ministry. The Stephen Minister's role is to bring God's love into the lives of people who are going through a difficult time or experiencing a crisis. Stephen Ministers listen, care, support, encourage, and pray with and for a person who is hurting. One Lamb Initiative

The mission of Dunwoody UMC One Lamb Initiative is to nurture and embrace mental wellness in a faithful community of connection and support. Dunwoody UMC has been guided in developing this ministry by Diane Moffett of Peachtree Road UMC. Their One Lamb Initiative has been active for several years now. The Summit Counseling Center at DUMC

We partner with Summit Counseling to provide professional and confidential services to our members and the community. Summit addresses mental health issues with an evidence-based approach of combining professional, licensed counseling with the client’s faith. Services are available for every age and stage of life, from preschoolers to senior adults. Support Groups

Dunwoody UMC offers several life-specific support groups that meet regularly to help members and the community deal with difficult issues such as memory loss, divorce or death.

Caregiving for a loved one with a form of dementia can be a challenging and draining experience. If you are that caregiver, even if it is long distance, there is a confidential support group just for you where you can feel support from others who are on that same journey of love. Sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association, this group meets on the second Thursday of each month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Wesley Room. "Grieving is a journey that teaches us how to love in a new way now that our loved one is no longer with us." -Tom Attig, "The Heart of Grief". If you are grieving the death of a loved one - no matter when that death might have occurred - there is a support group just for you. DivorceCare is the #1 Divorce Recovery program in the world. It is a life-changing support group that welcomes all people and guides them on the path of recovery after separation or divorce. Over 1 million people have found comfort and hope through this 13-week, video-based program with nationally recognized expert speakers, plus two volunteer co-leaders. DivorceCare uses a combination of a 30 minute video, group discussion and a personal workbook to guide you. No legal advice is given as a part of the DivorceCare curriculum. Dunwoody UMC has a weekly support group for those who have been through divorce or are currently experiencing a divorce.
